Welcome to the Base Users Group

Base
is the database program which ships with OpenOffice.org
2.1.x and is generally meant to be a replacement for
Microsoft's Access. The Office Suite is Open Source
and free to purchase and distribute. With currently
hundreds of thousands of users, it has the potential to be
the most used database on earth. The price is
certainly attractive and whether you use it for a front end
to MySQL or as a stand alone product, you are likely to need
a question or two answered. There is an OOo users list-serv
available at
http://OpenOffice.org but the bulk of the questions are
installation issues from newbies around the world.
Hopefully, you can post your questions in our forum as well
as help other users with their data Base issues. If
you have extra time to devote to improving the product or
documentation or perhaps writing a small application to
further our project, please contact the
webmaster@baseusers.com to communicate your desires.
Now that we have Base, instead of searching download.com for a
cheap prospect management system to handle our sales leads
and follow them to sales invoices and all of the other
little packages that we used to buy; we can simply write our
own. Custom. Just for us. We can add the
little snippet that no commercial package has. And if
it is really good, we can sell it. Wow! Imagine that!
Me, writing software.
